In the end-of-year service of my local church, my pastor said that his vision for year 2007 is the year of opportunity. He said that so often people don’t realize how precious their life and time is. As such, they waste their time and do not make the most of the opportunities they have.
He spoke it out from his own experience. In 2006, he was badly sick which threatened his life. But he recovered and that experience made him realize – more than ever before – that his life is an opportunity so precious that he can no longer waste any part of it.
His message sinks in my heart because it does apply to my life. Often I do not realize what a precious opportunity my life is. I knew that every day of my life is an opportunity, but I didn’t realize it that deep. Do I need to have a life-threatening experience to make me awake? I hope not. Therefore, I personally set year 2007 as my year of opportunity, the year in which I start learning about what an opportunity my life is.

Hey Donald,
Great Post!
For some people, particularly men, it does take a life-changing experience to wake you up.
We’re so focused on creating a career, marrying before a certain age, producing our 2.3 kids, doing what’s expected, making money, ticking boxes, doing all the necessary ‘practical life’ stuff, that we gradually and un-intentionally, lose part of ourselves.
2007 is your year of opportunity, the year in which you start learning about what an opportunity your life is.
Keep up the great writing Donald!

Thanks, Craig.
I agree with you. I just hope I’m not one of them :).
