What do you think is the key to success? There are some possible answers to this question, but recently I became interested in one of them: grit. I have read about its importance many times, so I decided to learn more about it. My main source is a paper entitled Grit: Perseverance and Passion for Long-Term Goals. Here are some facts about grit from the paper:
In my post about meaningful work (based on Martin Seligman’s Authentic Happiness), I wrote that you should constantly exercise your strengths to gain inner satisfaction. The more you do it, the better it will be for you. That’s why it’s important that you recognize your strengths and put them to use. There are many tools out there that can help you identify your strengths. StrengthsFinder, for instance, is a popular one. But here I want to focus on just one tool: the multiple intelligence test by Howard Garner. The test is based on the theory that there are seven types of intelligence (source 1, source 2):
In my post about how to dream big, I wrote that one way to dream big is to get inspired by the stories of great people. It’s a good way to challenge your limiting beliefs and open your mind to new possibilities. The key is to not read the stories as a spectator, but to imagine yourself being in their position, overcoming challenges and defying expectations. I’m always looking for good biographies to read, so I’d like to ask you: What are the most inspiring biographies you have read and why? Please leave your answer in the comments. Even if you don’t plan to leave an answer, I hope you will still stop by and vote for your favorite answer. Thanks! Photo by MAMJODH
If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember that this whole thing was started with a dream and a mouse. ~ Walt Disney To live your life to the fullest, one key factor you need to remember is the size of your dreams. If your dreams are small, you will miss many things in life. You will miss them not because they are out of your reach, but because your limiting beliefs hinder you from reaching them. That’s why I believe it’s important that we learn to dream big. Your life is too precious to be spent pursuing small dreams. Dream big so that you can reach your full potential. Before anything else, though, you should make sure that you pursue the right dreams. You should make sure that your dreams are both fulfilling and meaningful.
