How Has Your Year Been?

We are now in April, and that means a quarter has passed in 2014. There are only three quarters left this year.

I think it’s a good time to stop and reflect on how our year has been. Has it been a good one? Or perhaps it’s not as good as it should be?

Many people wait until the end of the year before they do some reflection. But that’s too late! Isn’t it better to do it now while we can still get things right this year?

To help you reflect, here are three questions that you could ask yourself:

  • Are you on track to achieve your goals?
You might have set some goals in the New Year. But are you on track to achieve them? Or perhaps you have gone off track? If you’ve gone off track, it’s time to do what it takes to get yourself back on track.
  • What can you improve? ?
No matter how you think your year has been, there is always room for improvements. So figure out what improvements you can make. Don’t just stay where you are.
  • Do you have fun?
Sometimes you could become too busy with your goals that you forget to have fun. But life is supposed to be fun! After all, what’s the point of living if you don’t feel alive? So have some fun!

Let’s make the most out of the rest of this year. Let’s make this year our best year ever.

  1. Good point. Waiting to the end of the year to do reflection is a bad idea. If we reflect earlier, we have bigger chances to change something.
Questions you mentioned are a helpful way to set own goals or to choose the path someone wants to follow… I really like your article 🙂

  2. I’ve read some stuff recently about 12-13 weeks being a good time frame for planning (and therefore for review) so once again you’re dead right. I think a year can be too long and 3 months is also the length of a season so has a natural rhythm to it. I’ve had a busy year (too much time in the office) but have found time for other projects and activities including those things I was putting off (bike repair, tax forms, sorting out the household technology). It feels like a good year so far as there’s also been time for friend and family but work on getting the time in the office down is still needed. I’ve also set myself an end of spring target for my next ebook!
