3 Things You Should Do to Live with Inner Peace

We are now in the Christmas season, so I think it’s a good time to talk about peace. My focus is on how we can live with inner peace.

There’s no question that it’s great to live with inner peace. You can have all the material things in the world, but if you don’t have inner peace, your life will be miserable. On the other hand, you might not be rich, but if you have inner peace, your life will be joyful. That’s why it’s important that we learn how to have a peaceful heart.

Here are three things you should do to live with inner peace:

1. Be at peace with yourself.

Before anything else, you must be at peace with yourself. Stop blaming yourself for the bad things that had happened in the past. Everyone makes mistakes, so you must forgive yourself and move on.

You must also accept yourself as you are. For instance, don’t wish that you have a different physical appearance or family background. God creates you in a unique way, so don’t compare yourself with others. You might not understand yet how everything works together, but you must have faith that it’s good.

2. Be at peace with others.

After you are at peace with yourself, you can then be at peace with others. For this, you must learn to forgive. It might be hard, but remember that nobody is perfect, including you. You yourself need forgiveness for your mistakes, so why not forgive others? By forgiving others, you release peace upon yourself and those around you.

3. Be content with what you have.

You can’t have inner peace if you constantly grumble about your situation. So learn to be content with what you have. Count your blessings and realize that there are many things you should be thankful for. Being with your loved ones, for instance, is a great blessing. Once you learn to be content, peace will enter your heart.

That’s it for today – I hope you enjoy your time this holiday season. Merry Christmas!

  1. Informative feature in your post. I learn many new stuff right here. Thank you.

  2. Nice article Donald, and very true. But I would add a fourth tip – be helpful to others. I think it’s difficult to find peace when someone you care about is in turmoil. In the last few years I’ve realized that helping people rarely costs me anything, but gives me so much. It’s a stark contrast to the self-serving individual I used to be, and the reward and peace of mind are incredible.

There is a caveat however. You must never assume responsibility for helping someone, even if you really care about the person. Anyone who’s tried to help someone that won’t help themselves can attest to the frustration and despair. Just be on hand to help when that person needs your support. You can bring the horse to water, but you can’t make him drink, as they say!

  3. Agreed Donald, Inner peace is found when you can stay calm and reflect on things around you. Redefining the line – what makes me content in life? The answer is everything that i have. The challenges, my success and failures, my ability to understand what i am capable of and what i can’t do or don’t wish to do. My Inner peace is understanding me.

  4. Having inner peace is great and healthy. However, i have the discovered that we tend to define what gives us Joy and peace based on certain conditions.

Really it’s not that simple to be at peace with oneself when our world is full of demands. We are told to go beyond our comfort zone.

To have inner peace, you have to give up what the world thinks is Peace
