My First E-book Is Coming Soon

Last month I wrote that I was working on an e-book in 2012 but couldn’t finish it on time. Now, however, the e-book is almost ready. I expect to launch it next week. The title of the book is A Dent in the Universe: 36 Small-Business Lessons from Steve Jobs.

As you might know, I believe that one of the best ways to learn about life is to study the lives of exceptional people. Doing that can help you figure out the best ways to do things. It can also save you time since you don’t have to learn many things yourself the hard way.

With that in mind, I make an effort to extract lessons from the lives of successful people. Each of them is different so we can learn something different from each of them.

Here, for my first e-book, I choose Steve Jobs as the subject. Since Jobs was a businessperson, naturally the lessons are related to business. I want the lessons to be applicable to the readers of this blog, though, so I wrote them with small businesses in mind.

Why is the topic of small business relevant to the readers of this blog? Because having their own business, I believe, is the way to go for many people. It’s always good to have more control over your livelihood, especially given the uncertainty of the economy. Even if you don’t plan to go full time with your business, it’s still a good idea to diversify your income sources.

Steve Jobs, of course, is a good role model here. He built two successful companies (Apple and Pixar) and revolutionized different industries such as personal computers, animated movies, and music. And he started as a small business.

Whether you are thinking about starting your own business or already have one, my hope is that this book can help you achieve your full potential.

Stay tuned.

  1. Hay, When you are going to publish? from where it will be available?

  2. Hi Donald

    What an interesting idea!

Who else are you thinking of writing about, and what areas of life are you thinking of applying his/her lessons to?

Any chance you might take the learnings gained in one area of life and see how they translate to others? For example, the swordsmanship lessons in Miyamoto Musashi’s A Book of Five Rings being used for decision-making in business strategy during the 70s and 80s.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts…

    …and the books!

    • Hi Jehangir,

I do have other people to write about in mind, but perhaps it’s best not to talk about them now 🙂 After all, everything could still change. My criteria is that the person’s life contains useful and practical lessons both for me and the readers.

Yes, I’m interested in doing that (taking the lessons in one area and apply them to others). But most likely I won’t do it soon since I’m still focusing on historical figures.

  3. Awesome Donald, I look forward the book. I’m also in the process of creating an eBook at the moment but I’m finding it quite hard to stay motivated!

  4. All the best on the launch Donald! Love the title of the book also. Maybe you will make your own little dent on the universe too 🙂
