Thanks for the great (guest) post,

Especially the idea about wearing slippers to protect your feet instead of carpetting the whole earth is a good one to keep in mind :)

Also the idea to be responsible for your own Happiness and about not relying on something outside us to bring Happiness is something that's an interesting consideration. Just as you can read about in the Book Happy for No Reason.
where the author talks about Happy for Good Reasons, Bad Reasons and - just as the book title - for NO Reason.

See my post at:

All the Best,
To your Happy Inspiration,

The real power is within us - NOT outside of us! When we really realize this on a deep level, we will live a life in infinite abundance. In all aspects of life!

Sometimes (read: often) it takes some kind of reprogramming!

Do not underestimate the power of habits!!

Greetings,
Claus D Jensen

I like what you have said here " If we can change only ourselves and not the world around us, it follows that we can be happier by changing our thoughts" And it's true, how many times we try to change the world around us instead of ourselves, great post, thanks for your insight.

"Attachment – greed, craving, ambition – is the cause of all misery, and so to be detached is to be happy."

Very well put. This is especially true regarding people's attachment of acquiring more wealth to the point that they spend the rest of their lives trying to make more and nothing else.

Our mind is our enemy because it is the one that inhibits our inner self. It labels everything according to good or bad, it does not want to leave things as it is, it wants to react and make things in accordance to its whims.

Stepping beyond our minds will put us on a plane of happiness and understanding. :-)

Yes, for things to change, we must change first. Rather than trying in vain to change others and the external environment, we should work on changing ourselves. And isn't now a good time as any to just BE happy?

Great article... I would like to add on to this with <a href="http://richgrad.com/10-secrets-to-happiness-i-learnt-from-andrew-matthews/" rel="nofollow">10 secrets to Happiness I learnt from Andrew Matthews</a>
