Number 2, I think, is harder than number 1. I think everyone has been conned into this at some point... Just try to be self-aware, knowledgable, and live with integrity (corny, but whatever). I need to work on all these areas myself -- i'm fairly flighty and dopey at times. It's actually very easy to be exploited; just don't fall into the trap of thinking that you did anything wrong if this happens to you because you really didn't. Just remember that. It's there problem and their therapy bill, shouldn't be yours.</description>

		<description>I liked your review of the book. It sounds like a good read.I know I've been influenced like you mention in the book by  a car dealership. I went in bound determined to not be taken in. Guess what. They won.

 I guess they were better at the game than I was.I didn't practice enough before I went in. We now are 6 months into a 60 month car payment. We just got rid of our credit card debt of 15 years so maybe we've learned our lesson. When my "stupid tax" is paid we can really start saving for retirement.</description>

As we all probably suspect, there is no shortage of people out there who want to influence us to take actions that will lead to their benefit.

In the business world, one thing I often run into is people who deal from a position of strength (authority) and even combine that with some of the other principles.  By dealing solely from a position of strength, they force anyone who wants to do business with them to act from weakness.  It's similar to bullying.  Of course, as the real estate market has been turning, I'm seeing those people's position diminish.
