First Anniversary of Life Optimizer

At September 7, 2006 I wrote my first post in this blog, so today marks the first anniversary of Life Optimizer. The past 12 months have been a great learning experience for me, both in my personal growth and in my role as a blogger.

I do feel how different I am today than I was one year ago. Writing about personal growth makes me think about it most of the time. That gives me a lot of ideas to improve my life. Besides, maintaining this blog also gives me a sense of accountability. I have no choice but to keep growing to be able to provide value for the readers.

Honestly, the first months of this blog were a struggle. The traffic and subscriber level was laughably low. In November 2006 for example (two months after this blog started), the total monthly visits was only 144 (4.64 visits per day) and the average number of subscribers was only 4.87. At that time, I often felt that I wrote my blog posts without anyone reading them. I hope your blog does better than mine!

I’m glad that I kept moving forward though, and I’m now very grateful for the growth of this blog. In August 2007 there were 50,000+ visits and 1200+ subscribers. While there is still a long way to go, at least I do not feel as lonely as I was in the first months 🙂

Most importantly, I’d like to thank you, the reader. It is you that make the past one year a wonderful journey for me. I hope this blog can provide increasingly useful value for you in the coming years!

  1. Happy anniversary, Donald!

I am glad you endured through the difficult times. This is a victory in itself – and even more considering your current traffic levels!

Congratulations and I hope that this wonderful first year motivates you to move forward even more.

  2. Congrats and Happy Blogiversary! One year is an accomplishment. Keep blogging! 🙂

  3. Hey Donald,

Congratz! You have done it! To be honest, majority of bloggers don’t get results as good as yours at the 1 yr point. You have something here that you should be proud of.

Keep the good articles coming 🙂

    Cheers
    James

  4. From humble beginnings comes great things. Congratulations Donald, and thanks for not getting discouraged. You’ve had a GREAT impact on us all!

Here’s to many more years of insights and inspirations.

  5. Thanks for your kind and encouraging words, everyone!

    Luciano,
The main reason I started this blog is to fulfill my life purpose: “helping as many people as possible to live the fullest of life”. I think it’s this purpose that made me endure the difficult times. The same purpose keeps motivating me day by day.

    Kirsten,
“Blogiversary”! I like it! One more word for my vocabulary 🙂

    James,
“Keeping the good articles coming” is always the hard part of blogging. But it’s also the fun part. It’s challenging and even thinking about it makes me excited 🙂

    Phil,
“From humble beginnings comes great things.”
What a great saying! I *love* it! It inspires me and everyone that there’s always hope no matter how bad we did it.

  6. I believe that by just being a part of “Priscilla’ Palmer’s Personal Development list obligates each of us to also post this list. You like me (Killeris at “Attitude, the Ultimate Power”) are on this list. If you have already posted it, THANK YOU. If you have not posted it, I am officially putting out a challenge that you add additional sites that fit the theme and post it. This list can be found at: http://mondaymorningpower.blogspot.com/2007/09/personal-development-list-challenge.html

  7. Mel,
Rather than everyone reposting the entire list, I think a better solution is directing people to the master list. I did link to the master list (in my post Links for 2 September 2007) because I think it’s a useful resource.

  8. Hey, congratulations, Donald! You’ve made it through the hardest part, and we are happy you persisted!!!

Amidst the busyness that is our day-to-day, your messages of productivity and “living to the max” is a breath of fresh air. Keep on keepin’ on!!

  9. Thanks a lot, Kim! It’s my greatest pleasure to know that this blog can somehow be useful to others.
